Turing Programme Manager (ITG)
Role: Turing Programme Manager

Location: South Africa (Cape Town)
Salary: 25,000 ZAR per month
Hours: Full time (Exempt) 40 hours/week. Due to the nature of the role working hours are flexible and could include early morning and evening calls.
Start Date: February 1st, 2023 or earlier
About the role
We are currently searching for a passionate and committed individual to help manage and deliver all administrative aspects of the Turing scheme in 2023/24.
You will develop excellent knowledge of our Expedition programme, projects and impact and communicate this effectively to applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Partnership and Portfolio Management

Compile and submit applications for 2023/24 Turing Scheme using the Turing application process

The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s programme to provide funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. It supports Global Britain by providing an opportunity for UK organisations from the higher education, further education, vocational education and training and schools sectors to offer their students, learners and pupils life-changing experiences to study or work abroad. In 2023, we are sending 450 young people on training programmes across 24 groups, in 9 countries around the world

Understand the Turing Scheme brief and how ITG (Impact Travel Group) programmes can support the scheme

Working with the Turing Scheme’s portal and ensuring deadlines and tasks are met

Developing and maintaining partnership with overseas organisations, ensuring good relationships are in place

This role involves working internationally while liasing with colleagues, organisations and schools.

Managing project information, updating changes in documents, spreadsheets, on the websites and communicating with the relevant ITG team.

Monitoring travel and safety information on destinations

Liase regularly with the Turing Scheme, to ensure we are following correct procedures

Liase with colleagues, in the UK, US and the Philippines

Liase with Schools, Colleges, parents and students in the UK
Ethics and Best Practice
- Ensuring safety checks, risk assessments and other documentations are in place and updated for all placements, partners, and participants
- Monitoring and taking action on international safety issues, keeping the team up to date about changes in requirements and recommendations
- Investigating and implementing best practices in community participation, impact, and sustainability with partners and projects
- Finance and Reporting:
- Managing and implementing monthly payment reports and reporting with the Turing Scheme
- Monitoring, editing and developing websites to reflect the programmes
- Identifying ideas that increase participant recruitment
- Providing content, including letters and emails to schools, parents and students
- Following up on all feedback, making improvements to documents and processes where necessary
Skills and Experience
Required

The position requires an individual with fantastic organisation, attention to detail and planning skills

Ideally experience of dealing with teachers and students within the educational sector

Proficient in Microsoft Office and working on Excel

Good communication skills, preferably having worked with overseas teams, and non-native English speakers in the past, with the ability to diplomatically manage difficult situations with clients and ground team.

Self-confident and able to use your own initiative to make decisions, lead a team and handle difficult situations

Financial skills to oversee the processes of pricing, payments, and invoices

Search Engine Optimization Intern (ITG)

Contract: Full time; 5-6 months
Reports to: SEO Manager
Team: SEO Team
About the role
The Impact Travel Group (ITG) is looking for multiple SEO Interns who are ready to join a growing team and assist our SEO Manager in creating and implementing various SEO strategies to draw more organic traffic to multiple entity websites. Our SEO interns will help us to conduct keyword research and topic development, gather metrics and create reports, and optimize content to be more SEO friendly. These full time international internships will also support analysis and monitoring of SEO performance, creation of brand new editorial content to boost organic traffic, and the development of SEO link-building strategies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with regular website audit processes
- Organize and categorize discovered issues and errors
- Create content to solve on-page issues
- Identify resolutions for link and redirect errors
- Monitor progress and track implementation of changes
- Conduct keyword research to support content development
- Utilize SEMRush to research target keywords
- Compile keywords into clearly defined keyword lists
- Compare findings with competitors to maximize opportunities
- Develop high value topic clusters and blog outlines
- Support creation of new content and updates to existing content
- Regularly contribute new blogs on topics related to programs and destinations
- Assist with auditing existing content and implementing necessary changes
- Gather SEO metrics and data for internal reporting purposes
- Pull data from various sources, including Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMRush, and other SEO tools
- Contribute to off-site link building efforts
- Conduct research and outreach for new backlink opportunities
- Identify solutions to broken backlink issues
- Come up with new strategies for building backlinks
- Build SEO knowledge
- Actively commit to learning SEO through online trainings, research, and in person tutorials
- Stay up to date with SEO news and trends
Skills and Experience
Essential skills
- Current student or bachelor’s degree graduate of any field
- Native English speaker with excellent grammar
- Experience using Google Drive and Gmail
- Interested in learning about how search engines, browsers, and websites work
- Desire to build content writing skills and digital marketing knowledge
- Exceptional writing skills with a passion for travel writing
- Confident writing all kinds of content with a specific set of brand guidelines, audience, and writing style in mind
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience traveling to multiple foreign countries
Desirable skills & experience
- Experience participating in an organized travel program
- Knowledge of SEO basics
- Experience using Google Analytics or any other SEO tool
- Experience editing / managing a WordPress website
- Recent graduate of a relevant field (i.e. tourism, communications, marketing, etc.)
